Hello! I'm Louis, a Sydney-based Director of Photography.

I’m all about creating images that dutifully captures the essence of a good script, story or brief. I’m not married to a style and I believe every picture should elicit it’s own meanings and emotions. Be it raw or ephemeral, documentary or fictional, I love getting amongst it in order to craft a director’s idea into a moving image.

I first began my journey into cinematography as I was completing a Master’s in Media Arts and Production after years of working as videographer and broadcast cameraperson. Upon graduating, I then spent 12 years assisting my way up the camera department on large-scale feature films, long-form dramas and commercials before becoming a DP. Through these experiences, I not only bring on a wealth of technical knowledge onto each set, but also a great sensibility of teamwork, collaboration and compassion.

Some of my favourite movies include Infernal Affairs, Hoop Dreams, Fargo and Idiocracy. When I’m not shooting with cameras, you can find me shooting hoops, backpacking or camping in the bush. I can speak 3 languages and love a Szechuan hot pot.

My recent projects include being an Operator on Warner/ABC’s Urzila Carlson Sketch Show (premiering in late April) and Class Clowns (currently in Post). Both shows feature some of Australia’s most recognisable comedians and international icons like Anastasia, Dave Hughes, Matt Okine, Nina Oyama and Luke McGregor.
